Here is a very rare gun! This is the pattern that is known as the 1826 U.S. Type Flintlock Pistol. They were made by Boulton, Pennsylvania firm of J.J. Henry. According to Flayderman's guide, These were made in 1836 and they were only made in "Limited Numbers". This exact pistol is pictured and described in Major Arcadi Gluckman's book, "UNITED STATES MARTIAL PISTOLS & REVOLVERS". The gun measures 13-1/2 inches in overall length with the full-length 8-1/2 inch round unmarked barrel. It has the original brass blade front sight with the fixed rear sighting slot raised on the tang of the barrel. The barrel is held to full stock with spring retained band. The gun is in the original flintlock condition. The mechanics are very good condition and catches on both positions though original mainspring has slight crack. The beveled edge flat lock is stamped with the "J.J. HENRY / BOULTON". This is scarce contractor for 1826 type flintlocks thought made for Pennsylvania militia in limited quantity. The stock of the gun has a very pleasing look all around. The stock retains much of its original varnish. There is an old professional wood inset below lock, which must gave been done prior to 1939 photo in Gluckman. A rare original copy of the book accompanies the gun. In my 30+ years in the business, this is the first one of these rarities that I have been able to offer. Don't wait another 30 years to get a chance at one.
