This is a one of the coolest images that I have ever had! This is an original 6th plate tintype image of a Civil War Confederate soldier in his uniform. These tintype images were produced by applying the image to a thin sheet of tin, hence the name. This is the size that is known to collectors as the sixth plate size. It measures about 2.75 inches by 3.25 inches in overall size. This image is vividly clear as you can see but is a little daker in person than in the images. It has one emuslion flake by his right arm that is mentioned for exactness. The image shows the seated view of the soldier. The man has the dark complexion with with the Indian braids and beads in his hair. The braids go about half of the way down his chest. He is wearing a gray great coat with a shell style jacket underneath. You can see the small buttons going down the front of the jacket. On his chest, you can clearly see the watch key for his pocket watch. In his hand, you can see the Colt pattern .31 caliber "pocket" model revolver. The image is in a very attractive brown tone complete gutta percha case. This is a great looking tintype image of an armed Native American. You won't likely find another one of these anytime soon!
