VERY SCARCE! "Script Letter" Confederate 2-Piece Sword Belt Buckle

This is one of the most desirable and elusive of all Rebel belt buckles. This is a gorgeous original Confederate belt buckle. It is the pattern of buckle used for the illustration of Plate #002 in the revised edition of Confederate belt Buckles & Plates by Steve Mullinax. This pattern is known to collectors as the "Script Letter" pattern of two piece sword belt buckle. He lists the buckle as a rarity of 8 out of 10 but personally I think they are tougher to find. The script style letters make it one of the most beautiful of all of the Civil War 2-piece sword belt buckles. This pattern was manufactured in the Richmond, Virginia area. Mullinax noted that this pattern was worn by Confederate Engineers and Surgeons. The bold C.S. letters on the buckle tongue can be seen from across the room. This one is in beautiful excavated condition and has no restoration of any kind. The buckle is displayed on a brown leather belt. The belt is a Southern construction that ahs had a section replaced and it appears to have been done long ago. This is a superb looking piece that any collector would appreciate. This piece is on consignment for a good friend of mine. He said that I could reduce the price by $1,000 so I did. Don't miss your chance!
