This one is nice enough for any collection! It is a gorgeous non-excavated Confederate belt buckle. This is one of my favorite styles of buckles. It is the version that is known to collectors as the "Rope" border buckle. It gets this nickname because around the edge of the buckle it has a beaded inner ring that gives the appearance of being a rope like design. You can see the rope going almost all the way around this one. These were made using a sheet of brass that was stamped with the magic "CS" letters in the center. This one has a gorgeous untouched patina all over with a stunning look. On the reverse of the buckle it has all three of the original hooks. The hooks are interesting on this pattern of buckle. They took the left over scraps of brass from making the face of the buckle and trimmed them into hook. This one they doubled the brass over and soldered them into plate. The back of this buckle looks as nice as the front as you can see. This belt and buckle will fit in nicely with any museum quality collection.
