This is a very interesting gun from a very important gun maker. This is the French made Devisme Patent six-shot revolver. This pattern of gun was patented in France in 1854. This one is crisply marked on the top of the frame "FINI PAR DEVISME A PARIS". The gun is designed to fire the bullets with the size of 7.5mm. the barrel is full-length at 4 inches and is designed with the round barrel with the (CROWN) / DV within an oval, the trademark of Devisme. This is the same firm that produced the high-quality sword that was carried by Confederate General Robert Edward Lee, Jeb Stuart and John Bell Hood. The metal parts of the gun are all original and have a pleasing look with some of the original factory finish to the metal on the protected areas. The mechanics still cock back just as it should. The handle of the gun has the beautiful factory checkered walnut grip intact with a very pleasing look. On the bottom of the handle it has the original loading rammer. This was what Devisme designed. When you loaded the bullets into the chambers you would use this rammer to seat the bullet down for firing. It was a slow process but was reportedly a fine functioning gun. This is a great looking gun from one of the most famous high-end manufacturers of the day.
