Click on an image to enlarge
These are original .50 Caliber bullet for the Smith Cavalry and Artillery carbines found in Civil War Campsites. The Smith carbine used the rubber casing as well as the metallic casing on the cartridges. These are the lead bullet portion of the cartridge. They have been excavated from camp and battlesites throughout the South. We added a couple of images at the end to show what the cartridge looked like that these bullets came from. The drawing of this style cartridge is borrowed from the wonderful cartridge book by Herschel C. Logan. It is a very handy book if you can find one to buy. The image of the cartridge is one that we sold a while back that is show but not included for the price quoted. The price quoted is for one original excavated Smith carbine bullet like the ones pictured.
