Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a button that you don't see offered very often! It is an original early 1-piece U.S. naval cuff button. This is the pattern that is listed as the NA86av in Albert's button book. It has the Union eagle in the center of the button with the anchor down below . Around the edge of the button it has the 13 stars on the lined background. On the reverse of the button it has the "WARRANTED SUPERIOR" backmark still partially visible. The shank came off of the back and was lost long ago as you can see. The verbal history that accompanied this piece is that it was recovered decades ago at Harrison's Landing, Virginia. This is a scarce version 1-piece navy button from about the 1820's and many were used on up till and into the Civil War because it is what they had.
