Here is a fine original authentic signature of Civil War Confederate Governor of Tennessee Isham G. Harris. In addition to a wonderful ink autograph, it comes on an official state of Tennessee commission appointing James Hinson as Justice of the Peace in Dickson County Tennessee. The 8-3/8ths inch by 10-5/8ths inch piece of paper has the Tennessee state seal in the upper left hand corner and the proud header of "State of Tennessee". It is pre-printed with the blanks filled in nicely in ink. It has the hand written date of March 13th 1860. The signature is nice and clear. Isham Green Harris (February 10, 1818 – July 8, 1897) was an American and Confederate politician who served as the 16th governor of Tennessee from 1857 to 1862, and as a U.S. senator from 1877 until his death. Harris is probably best known for being the person that found General Albert Sidney Johnston wounded and dying at the Battle of Shiloh in April of 1862. He survived the Civil War and served as a Tennessee Senator and a Lawyer who represented such notables as General Nathan Bedford Forrest. The document is accompanied by a Xerox image of Harris. This is a neat piece of Tennessee paper with a fine Confederate autograph.
