Tough to Find Robinson Backmarked Infantry Eagle "I" Great Coat
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a backmark that you don't often see offered. This is the classic great coat size infantry officer's uniform button. It has the beautiful Union eagle on the front with the "I" in the middle of the shield on the eagle's chest. This denotes the infantry branch of Civil War service. On the reverse of the button it has the original back with the shank being lost to the ages. The retailer's mark on the back is the tougher to find version that reads "*R&W ROBINSON*EXTRA RICH" This is still partially visible and that maker mark is not an easy one to find. This is a fine eagle "I" infantry button with a desirable maker's mark on the back.
