Excavated Navy 23mm Coat Button From Sackett's Harbor, New York NA66
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a button that you don't see offered very often! It is an original early 1-piece U.S. naval coat button. This is the pattern that is listed as the NA66c in Albert's button book. It has the Union eagle in the center of the button with the anchor down below. Around the edge of the button it has the 16 stars on the lined background. On the reverse of the button it has the "Ne Plus Ultra / Treble Gilt / Stand. Col" backmark still partially visible. The shank was missing in action and has been replaced in modern times as you can see. This is a scarce version 1-piece navy button from about the 1820's.
