Great Looking Civil War Eagle Pattern Belt Buckle Scarce Tin Version
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a superb displaying original Civil War eagle pattern belt buckle. This is the pattern known to collectors as the "panel Plate". These were often worn by the state guards and militias during the mid 1800's. This is the tougher to find version that is made of tin. It was constructed by stamping a sheet of tin and soldering the belt loop and keeper hook onto the back of the plate. There is a brass version illustrated as figure 403 in the O'Donnell & Campbell buckle book. This one has the narrow style keeper hook which is correct for the earlier pattern buckles. The other side has the original belt loop intact. It is a very nice looking buckle that will enhance any collection.
