Civil War Foot Officer's Sword with Etched Blade & Horstmann Retailer Mark

This is a fine displaying original Civil War foot officer sword. This is the classic style that was carried by the line officer's of the Civil War. The blade has the original etching that is still nice on the dark colored blade. The floral designs still shows up very light but present. At the base of the front side of the blade it has the stamped retailer's mark of Horstmann & Sons of Philadelphia. Horstmann sold many of the higher quality imported weapons to the Union soldiers during the Civil War. On the handle of the sword it has the sharkskin wrap over the wooden core. The spring style wire is present but is brown on the pommel side and is loose. The brass hand guard and pommel cap are present with a great attic tone to the brass. It has a very thick attic style patina all over the brass with a dark color in the protected areas. The scabbard is missing as you can see. This is a great looking original Civil War foot officer sword just missing the scabbard. Item #: C3816 (Sold)
