This button has a fine look! It is an original coat size infantry officer's button that would date from the 1840's to 1850's. The button has a beautiful untouched aged tone as you can see. This is the 2-piece style that was worn by well-to-do infantry officers. It has the clear backmark of "**TREBLE PLATED". It is the version that is listed as GI82 in Albert's book and as a silvered version of GI206E1 in Tice's button book. The original back and shank are present and in fine shape. This is a fine excavated silvered infantry Eagle "I" pattern button.
