Engraving CDV Image of Confederate General John Bankhead Magruder

This is an authentic engraving style CDV image of Confederate General John Bankhead Magruder (1807-1871). Magruder was a West Pointer that was appointed to be in charge of the artillery in an around Richmond, Virginia. In June of 1861 his division repelled the Federal advances of General Butler at the Battle of Big Bethel. For this victory he was appointed to the rank of Brigadier General. He held McClellan at the Yorktown area. He then was transferred to the Trans-Mississippi Department to encourage more Southern victory in the West. He recaptured Galveston, Texas and kept that port open. After the Civil War he served as a Major General in the Army of Maximilian. It is a nice clear engraving style CDV image of the general in a fine dress uniform. Along the bottom of the image it has the printer marking of the Prang firm in Washington. On the back of the card it has the desirable backmark of the Anthony firm.
