This is a fine original non-excavated 23mm Coat size Civil War uniform button from the artillery branch of service. These are a beautiful Civil War button. They have the Union eagle in the center with the "A" in the center of the shield on the eagle's chest. The "A" denotes the artillery branch of service. This one has fine detail on the face. On the back of the button it has the original back and shank intact. It has the correct Civil War era backmark of the Scovill Manufacturing Company of Waterbury, Connecicut. This is a nice non-dug original Civil War era uniform button.
