Great Looking Original Civil War Era Iron Curry Comb for a Horse
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a very neat piece. It is an original Civil War era curry comb. These were used for grooming the horses of the Civil War era. This one has the iron body with the 6 rows of teeth for brushing the horse hair. It is the classic style with the reinforced top with the angle that goes into the original wooden handle. The piece measures 5-1/2 inches by 8-1/2 inches at the widest points. They used many of these during the War but most of the were used up and discarded. You don't see them very often these days.
