Here is a beautiful piece! This is an original pre-Civil War officer's dress uniform. This is the coatee style that was worn by the officer's during the early 1800's. It has the rich blue color cloth with the golden floral bullion trim around the collar. On the cuffs of the sleeves it has the 3 coat size and 2 cuff size buttons adorning it. Going down the front of the coat, it has 2 rows of 9 navy coat buttons. The buttons are the beautiful NA106 buttons that have the Union eagle perched atop the navy anchor. On the reverse of the button, it has the backmark of the firm of Ives Scott & Company of Waterbury. These buttons are important in dating the manufacture of the coat. This firm was only in business from 1834 until 1836. On the back side of the coat, it has the 4 matching buttons detailing the coat. When you open the coat up, you see the majority of the original white lining. You can see that this one was worn but still displays well. This is a wonderful coat that displays superbly!
