Scarce Dug Brass Saddle Shield With Cincinnati Maker Marking Heatheral & Cosker
Click on an image to enlarge

This is a piece that you seldom see offered for sale these days! It is an original Civil War saddle shield. They went on the front of the saddle where the strap went through. It is the standard looking shield except that on the face it has the small block letter "Heatheral & Cosker" stamped into the brass. Below the arsenal mark it has the "3" size marking. It is in nice shape with the top section that snapped off long ago. It is a neat dug piece.
