Letter to Colt Firearms From the 1st New York Mounted Rifles

Here is a very neat letter from the middle of the Civil War. This 1 page letter is written to the "The Superintendent of the Works" of the Colt Firearms Company on September 30th 1863. The letter is being written from a member of the 1st New York mounted Rifles, A. Dunbar Potts. He wrote the letter on stationery of the Office of the Judge Advocate of the Department of Virginia and North Carolina. he is asking for a price list and description of "... your celebrated firearms. I am anxious to procure a pair of pistols upon which I can place implicit reliance..." The letter is written in ancient brown ink. The paper measures 9-3/4th by 7-3/4ths inches with a single hole in one spot and some edge tears as you see in the images. A cool letter to Colt Firearms Company.
