Here is a very neat letter from the middle of the Civil War. This 1 page folded letter is written to the Colt Firearms Company on October 14th 1863. The letter is being written from a Major of Ordnance for the Ordnance Office for the New York Arsenal on Governor's Island, New York. He is writing to order 10 barrels for Army model Colts and 5 barrels for Navy Model Colts. He states to send the pieces and the bill in care of Major General Van Vliet in New York. The letter is written in ancient brown ink. The paper measures 8-3/8th by 10-1/2 inches with a single hole in one spot and some edge tears as you see in the images. A cool letter to Colt Firearms Company.
