This gun has a beautiful look. This is an original flintlock made by the firm operated by John Made of Reading. The English maker's book states that he was located on Broad Street in Reading, Berks from 1823 until 1843. The gun is in beautiful condition as you can see. It measures 10 inches in overall length with the barrel making up 5-3/16ths of those inches. It fires a massive bullet of about .66 caliber. The barrel is full-length with the small bead style front sight intact. Along the breech of the barrel, it has the engraved production location of "READING". This one is in the original flintlock configuration. The action catches on both positions. The hammer is a little loose when in the full-cock position. It even has the original sliding style safety behind the hammer. In front of the hammer, it has the engraved maker marking of "J. MACE" in block style lettering. The stock of the gun is finely crafted out of a single piece of wood with a furniture grade appearance all over. The triggerguard and ramrod channel guide are crafted out of iron and the triggerguard has the large pineapple details. It has a great looking wooden ramrod under the barrel. This is just a great little gun from all angles as you can see!
