Here is something that you don't encounter every day. It is an original dagger size ancient bronze spearhead. The one-piece bronze spearhead measures an impressive 15-1/2 inches in overall length with a 13-3/4th inch double edged blade molded with broad central flute. It has the bevel straight shaft at the base for the spear pole so it can be driven into the wood for attaching the pole. The piece has a thick patina all over with a greenish brown tone. This pattern of spear would've been produced in the area of Luristan which is in the modern-day area of western Iran in the Zagros Mountains. The term Luristan references artifacts made by a society of semi-nomadic people that once lived in the mountainous region of Northwest Iran. Little is known of this ancient culture but the most impressive traces are that of the bronze artifacts they left behind that can be found in parts of present-day Turkey, Iran and Afghanistan. These include highly decorative equipment for their horses, ceremonial containers and numerous weapons that are found in institutional collections, especially more elaborate examples. This type of weapon was designed for up close and personal combat and would've been produced from approximately 1500 to 800 years before Christ. For the last several decades, this sword has been in the collection of Mr. Glenn Mattox of Post Falls, Idaho. Mr. Mattox passed and I was able to get this blade that he would NEVER sell me. I have enjoyed it and now it can be part of your collection. This is your opportunity to own a 100% authentic ancient spearhead.
