This is an excellent authentic non-excavated brass hunting horn hat insignia from the Civil War. This one has both of the two original loops intact on the back of the horn. This is one of the ones that came from the famous Bannerman collection in New York City. Bannerman was one of the people that bought the Civil War surplus items from the Government after the Civil War and sold them for years. That is why it was never issued and remains in such wonderful shape. This is a fantastic piece of Civil War history.
