Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a ready made display for your wall. This is an original excavated Civil War belt buckle. It is the classic oval with "US" on the face. Since it is in the frame, you can't see the reverse but it appears that all of the hooks are on the back by the way it stands up. It is also accompanied by a image of the American flag. Int he upper left hand corner it has a clipping from a old newspaper. It shows a man holding the buckle. The story tells how there was a load of dirt transported from the new post office to the man's home in Warrensburg, Missouri and the buckle was in the dirt. The article also states that the land was originally owned by Colonel W.B. Grover who served with the Union army. It was probably not his but it is possible. The frame measures 17 inches by 14 inches in overall size and is ready for your wall.
