Here is a cool piece! This is an original postal envelope that was sent from Carrolton, Mississippi, the county seat of Montgomery County on April 8th 1861. It has the circular postmark with the date which is over 2 months after the Mississippi joined the Confederacy. This is about the last day that it was still allowed to used a U.S. paid envelope, after that it was illegal. The letter was going to a man in New Orleans. It is in nice shape and is very legible.
