1820 Dated Large Size Surgeon's 2- Bladed Bleeder with "James Warner" Name

This is a great original pre-Civil War bleeder or fleam. This is the style with two different size blades. This was used by doctors of the Civil War era. It was the high-tech device that was used for piercing wounds to drain blood. It was high-tech because the old option was leaches. This one has both of the blades present and accounted for. On both of the blades it has the maker's mark of "BRADFIELD NORWICH" still clearly visible. The body of the bleeder is made of brass and it still opens and closes as well as the day it was new. It measures 4-1/4th inches in overall size. On the brass ide of the body it has the jeweler quality inscription that reads "James Warner" and on the other side "Eaton 1820". The last image shows this bleeder beside the usually smaller pocket size Civil War version. This is a very nice displaying piece of early 1800's medical history.
