This is an excellent original classic Civil War era Navy uniform coat size button. It has the eagle perched on the anchor on the front. Around the edge it has the stars on the lined background. This is the Civil War pattern with the tip of the anchor in front of the eagle's wing. The original back and shank are intact with a great look. It has the correct Civil War era maker mark on the back from the firm of W.G. Mintzer of Philadelphia. It is the version that reads "W.G. MINTZER. / PHILD". This is the style listed as the coat size version in Albert's button book as NA113 and in Tice's book as NA230A15. This is a wonderful looking Civil War era navy coat button.
