Very Cool Field Repair! Excavated Civil War U.S. Belt Buckle
Click on an image to enlarge

This is an original excavated belt buckle. This is the classic style that was worn by the regular fighting men of the Civil War. This is the version that has the arrow style belt attachment hooks on the reverse. This one still has the two original arrow pattern hooks intact and in fine shape. What makes this one so special is that when the front hook broke off, he still needed a buckle. So he used some ingenuity and cut two holes through the side of the buckle where it could be tied in place. Now that's smart and also in very dire need of a belt. This one is in excavated condition with the chips around the edges and it is priced accordingly. It has the majority of the original lead. The brass face of the plate has a crystal clear and bold "US" lettering. This is a neat excavated Civil War U.S. Belt Buckle with the field alteration.
