Original .36 Caliber Manhattan Revolver with Fine Cylinder Scene Visible
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a good looking .36 caliber Manhattan Firearms Company revolver. These Manhattans look almost identical to the .36 caliber Colts of the Civil War except they were made by the Manhattan Firearms Company. They have the Manhattan mark across the top of the 4 inch barrel as well as the production location of Newark, New Jersey. This one has matching serial numbers of 29,036 on all of the parts including the barrel wedge which is an original with a different number. These serial numbers puts the production into the third series of Manhattan production. There is still a very fine amount of the cylinder scene visible on the cylinder. It also has the patent date on the cylinder base. The action works well on all positions. The backstrap and triggerguard have a very attractive color all over that is golden rich brass. On the handle of the gun it has the original 1-piece walnut grips intact with a very pleasing look to the walnut. This is a good original Manhattan pattern .36 caliber Civil War revolver.
