Here is a great original gun with some cool features! It is an original example of the scarce .36 caliber Colt revolver that was made for use with a shoulder stock. This one has all matching serial numbers at 125,513. Thanks to Mr. Colt's fine bookkeeping we know that this gun would have been made in 1862. The gun has a wonderful flavor to it. It still retains about 20% of the original bluing in the protected areas. It has all of the correct Colt markings including the "COLTS PATENT" on the side of the frame. The top of the barrel has the crystal clear "ADDRSSS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA". It also has the multiple English style proof stamps. This lets us know that this is one of the .36 caliber Colts that were sold by Colt in England. In addition to all of the correct matching serial numbers it has the correct London proof marks on the major components just as it should have. The side of the cylinder has a superb amount of the original factory scene that depicts the naval battle between the Texas Navy and the Mexican Navy. One very special thing about this gun is that it was one of the very scarce ones that were designed with the 4 screw style frame and the notched bottom of the grip. These features were to allow the gun to be used with a shoulder stock (missing). Only a handful of these guns were ever made by Colt on the Navy models, most of them were on the Army models. On the handle of the gun, it has the original 1-piece walnut wood grip intact with a pleasing look. As if that wasn't enough this beautiful weapon is housed in the original Colt case. We know that it is the correct case for a London colt because of the way the "L" shaped tool inserts straight down into the cavity below the pistol barrel in the case. The box has the original blue felt present on the inside with the usual wear that gives it character. The top lid of the box has the original Colt paper label with the loading instructions. The box has all of the accessories present including Colt marked bullet mold and cap tin with cleaning rod and gun tool. The mold, flask, tool and rod are well made modern reproductions. You are buying the gun and case and these are just a free bonus. The box has a great look to the wood with a nice patina all over. This is a fantastic opportunity to own an original example of the scarce 1862 production Colt .36 Navy model revolver in the original factory box.
