Here is a very attractive looking original Civil War Enfield pattern long arm. This gun is officially known as the British pattern 1839. This one has the maker marking of "T.H. Potts" as well as the "LONDON" production location. Potts is well known to Confederate collectors because during the Civil War he and Hunt produced Enfield rifles for the Confederacy. The mechanics of the lock are are still crisp as they day it left the factory. The barrel is full-length at 39 inches. It has the original front side intact on the end of the barrel. At the breech of the barrel it has the multiple English style proof markings stamped into the metal. The stock of the gun is constructed of a single piece of wood that has a very pleasing look. The gun is designed with the brass material for the trigger guard, ramrod guides, nosecap and buttplate. The gun still retains both the original sling swivels. It has had the ramrod in the channel underneath the barrel. This gun has a very attractive look all over and displays quite well and has the Potts maker marking.
