This is an authentic piece of colonial currency from the 1700's. These early U.S. currency pieces from the colonies that would make up our states are a true piece of history. This one was issued the New Jersey colony. It is clearly dated from March 25th 1776. This one was worth the amount of 18 Pence. Yes that's right at that time currency was still figured in English or Spanish values. In the left hand lower corner it has the image of the seal of King George. During this turbulent time the King wanted people to know he was still in charge (he thought). On the back of the note it has the attractive leaf design in the center. It also has the amount of value and the printer's name. The note was printed by Isaac Collins of Burlington, New Jersey. Notice how it reads boldly "To Counterfeit is Death". The note measures approximately 4 inches by 2.25 inches in overall size. As you can see in the image the note is in beautiful condition. It comes in their acid free holder for display and preservation. It has been graded by the PCGS Grading Service and is rated by them as a "Uncirculated" with the notation that it was "Previously Mounted" on the reverse of note. It comes in their acid-free holder for preservation and display.
