Click on an image to enlarge
What a beautiful display piece! It is an original State of Maine Certificate of Appreciation certificate of Henry Clements. This beautiful pre-printed page has the soldier's name hand written in ink. The certificate itself measures 15-1/2 inches by 13 inches. It has the printed date of issuance and location of Augusta, Maine and July 4, 1868. It was issued to Henry Clements, presumably the same Clements who mustered into Company D of the 27th Maine Infantry Regiment as a private on September 30, 1862. In the lower right hand side, it bears the printed signature of Joshua L. Chamberlain as governor and illustrated with engraving of Chamberlain at the top. Other fine quality engravings of Grant, Farragut, battle scenes, etc. These were printed by the American Bank Note Co. New York & Boston. It is framed to the overall size of 19-1/4th inches by 16-1/2 inches in a beautiful antique wooden frame. A printout of Clements service as well as that of the 27th Maine will accompany the piece. It is ready for your wall.
