Here is a cool looking early production socket bayonet. This is one of the socket bayonets designed for the "Land Pattern" English Brown Bess flintlock musket that would have been made in the late 1700's up to about 1812. This land pattern bayonet measures 18 inches in overall length with a 14 inch blade. The socket is 4-7/8ths inches in overall length with the inside diameter on the blade side of .976 inches and the back side is .93 inches. It has a nice attic tone all over as you can see in the images. The blade of the bayonet is marked on the flat by the maker "I. SALTER" with a crown over "31" inspector stamp. It is a fine looking well worn socket bayonet for a Brown Bess Flintlock.
