Click on an image to enlarge
This is a very attractive .44 caliber Civil War Starr patent revolver. This is the pistol that is known officially as the model 1858 Starr Double Action revolver, this is the shorter barrel version that has the self cocking action style mechanics. The barrel is full-length with a pleasing look with a smooth finish and it still has some of the original factory bluing remaining on the protected areas. As you can see the frame has some blue remaining in the protected areas. The six inch barrel is full-length and has the original front sight intact. The cylinder has all of the nipples present and accounted for. The action works well on all positions. It has all matching serial numbers of 11,934. According to Flayderman's guide they only made about 23,000 of these Starr double action revolvers. The Starr Arms Company marking on the frame is nice and clear as is the New York production location. The original 1-piece walnut wood grips are intact on the handle and are in nice shape with a heavily worn look. This is a fine looking and all-original Civil War double action Starr revolver with all matching production numbers.
