What a great piece! This is an original Presidential land grant awarded to a soldier from the War of 1812. President Andrew Johnson was awarding 80 acres to a veteran of the War Of 1812. These were given to Joseph B. Harris who had served as a Private in "Captain Pollocks Company Virginia Militia War of 1812" and is so written in ink towards the top of the document. The document is beautifully printed with the blanks filled in in old brown ink. In the upper left hand corner, it has the waving flag image with the applied seal on the lower left hand corner. The Soldier was receiving the Land Grant For Land Near Mobile, Alabama and the size was 80 acres. In the lower right hand corner, it has the Andrew Johnson signature but it was signed for him by his secretary Frank Cowan and is so noted. The land grant is beautifully framed and matted in a wooden frame that measures 18-3/4ths inches by 19-1/2 inches in overall size. It also has a printed biography of his service as well as an original CDV image of President Johnson in a fine suit of clothes. The paper that the grant is on measures 14 inches by 9-1/2 inches in the matting. It is ready to hang on the wall of your relic room.
