This is a coat button that was used by the New England Guard of Boston, Massachusetts. It is the pattern listed as MA76 in Albert's button book and as MS264a1 in Tice's button book. The face of the button has a beautiful block "NEG" letters in the center with the lined field background. It has lots of the original gold gilding remaining on the face. This is the 2-piece construction that is in superb shape. It has the original shank present as you see in the picture. The maker mark is from the famous firm of R.&W. Robinson of Attleboro, Massachusetts. This is a very nice displaying non-excavated coat button.
