This is a nice and 100% authentic 1863 dated Confederate States of America savings bond. This is the style issued under the act of the Confederate Congress on May 16th 1861 in the $100 denomination. It is the style that has the likeness of the 2 females that are representing Commerce and Agriculture with the factory and the ships in the background at the top of the bond. This one has the hand written amounts and serial numbers. At the bottom edge of the top portion you can see the engraver's mark from the firm of Patterson of Columbia, South Carolina. It is correctly hand signed and numbered by the Confederate Government officials in fine brown ink. One is from Robert Tyler who was related to President Tyler. This is the Confederate bond listed as Type B27 in the bond book by Ball and as CR14 in the book by Criswell. They issued 1,914 of this pattern of bond and this one is numbered "2636" in ink. They must have intermingled the serial numbers with other styles on this one. This is a very attractive original Confederate states savings bond.
