Click on an image to enlarge
This is the only one of these notes that I have been able to offer in my 30+ years in the business. This is a merchant note that was issued from Holly Springs, Mississippi. It was issued by W.H. Bishop and is so marked in the center of the note. It states that it was issued On March 25th 1862 from Holly Springs, MS but was payable at a drug store 72 miles away in Jackson, Tennessee. It states that this scrip note was payable in currency when presented in multiples of $5. The note is unmarked on the reverse which is known by collectors as being "Uniface". It measures 5-3/8ths inches by 2-1/2 inches in overall size. It comes in an acid-free holder for display and preservation.
