Here is a pretty and early United States rifleman button. This is the coat size button worn by the riflemen that will date from the 1810's and 1820's. The front of the button has the horn insignia with the word "RIFLE" in the center and it has the 17 stars above the horn. On the reverse of the button it still has the original shank intact. This is the pattern that is illustrated as figure RF13B in Albert's button book. This is a nice looking Rifleman coat button.
