Autograph of Confederate general John Warren Grigsby - Wheeler's Chief of Staff

Here is an original autograph of John Warren Grigsby (1818-1877). Grigsby was born on September 11th 1818 in Rockbridge, Virginia. When the War started, he was living in Kentucky. He helped in raising the 6th Kentucky Cavalry. In a charge against a Union artillery battery, Grigsby was wounded in Milton, Tennessee on March 20th 1863. He led a Kentucky Brigade of Cavalry in the Atlanta Campaign. He was appointed inspector general of all the cavalry of the Army of Tennessee and by 1865 was serving as chief of staff for Confederate General Joseph Wheeler. The autograph is accompanied by a printed biography of his service as well as a modern Xerox image of the General. The paper that the autograph is on measures 5 inches by 2-1/2 inches in overall size. It is a fine piece of history!
