What a gorgeous pair of pistols. This is a matching pair of high grade single shot pistols. These guns were made by the high quality London maker, the Theophilus Richards Company and are so marked along the top of each barrel. The Theophilus Richards & Company was a family business involving Theophilus Richards Sr. and his sons Theophilus Jr. and William. The firm made both guns and fittings, and enjoyed a lucrative contract with the British Army. Theophilus would also operate a mercantile firm known as "Theophilus Riachards & Co." and were in business from 1790 until 1830. The guns each fire a bullet of 28 bore which translates to .55 caliber from the full-length 9inch octagonal Damascus barrels, Each gun has the beautiful walnut wood half-stocks with the hand checkered grip. The case hardened locks each sport the blued triggerguards. On the underside of the barrel it has the German silver forend caps to match the thumb pieces, and pin escutcheons. The mechanics on each gun is still crisply functional and they have the adjustable triggers. The barrel each have the Damascus pattern to the metal with the bead style front sight and rear sight blocks. Engraved on each of the barrels in script letters it proudly states "Theophilus Richards & Co London". They are a beautiful matching pair of pistols for the Theophilus Richards Company.
