Great Looking Original Unmarked Enfield Rifle Saber Bayonet with Scabbard
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a great looking original Civil War saber bayonet & scabbard. This pattern was used on the end of the 2-band style Enfield rifles. They were designed so they could be used as a bayonet on the end of the gun or they could be removed and used as a saber for up close fighting. Thus they got the name of a saber-bayonet. They attached to the stud on the end of the barrel and this one still has the spring on the end that held it in place. The blade is full-length with a dark tone all over. The handle is complete with both sides of the pressed black leather handles remaining. It is nice enough to put back on a gun today. The bayonet is completely unmarked. The scabbard has a good look with nice black leather. The leather his solid and as you can see it displays well. This is a nice example and will make a solid addition to your collection.
