Click on an image to enlarge

This is a very beautifully designed original 1863 dated State of North Carolina $1.00 Note. It has a beautiful view of the North Carolina State Capitol in the center of the note. On the right hand side it has the oval portrait of North Carolina State Treasurer Jonathan Worth. One thing that makes these notes so attractive is the pale red ink "X" and "TEN". This was added to help prevent counterfeiting. It was issued from Raleigh on January 1st 1863 and is so dated down in the lower center. The note is correctly hand signed and numbered in fine old ink. The back of the note has the matching pale red ink to prevent counterfeiting. The piece of currency is in gorgeous un-circulated condition. The overall size measures 7 inches by 3 inches. The note was professionally graded by the PMG Company and they rated it as being "About Uncirculated" and note that it was printed on "Exceptional Paper Quality". This nice authentic note comes in their acid free holder for display and preservation.
