Here is an original pre-Civil War New Orleans bank note. These notes are true works of art as much as they are a bank note. This is an original $5.00 notes from the Citizens Bank of Louisiana in Shreveport,
Louisiana. The note displays superbly and was never
issued and it is from the pre-Civil War era as they were not printed after the
Civil War. It has the 2 Goddess scene in
the center. If you notice down in the bottom center of the note it has the "SHREVEPORT" location of the bank. The back of the note has the beautiful pale red ink
tones with the large trio of "5"'s with the French that translate as "CITIZENS’ BANK OF LOUISIANA SHREVEPORT". You can tell that these notes were crafted like a work of art and
not just printed as were so many of the pieces of the day. The overall
size of the note measures 7-1/8th inches by 3-1/8th inches in size. It is hand signed and numbers with the issue date of August 23rd 1860. What a fantastic
display piece!
