Lady Liberty & Eagle Image Canal Bank of New Orleans $10
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a true work of art as much as it is a bank note. It is an original $10 note from the Canal Bank in New Orleans, Louisiana. This one was never issued as you can tell by the blanks where the names and signatures would have gone. This note displays superbly and was never issued and it is from the pre-Civil War era as they were not printed after the Civil War. It has the bank building in the center of the note with the eagle on the left and Lady Liberty on the right. In the corners it has the "10" and "TEN" denominations. If you notice down in the bottom center of the note it has the "NEW ORLEANS" location of the bank just above the steam driven paddle wheel ship. The back of the note has the beautiful orange-red ink tones with the four "10"'s flanking the "CANAL BANK NEW ORLEANS" wording. You can tell that these notes were crafted like a work of art and not just printed as were so many of the pieces of the day. The note comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation. What a fantastic display piece!
