This is an original $1.00 bank note from the state of
Louisiana. This one was issued from Shreveport on March 1st 1864 and
is so dated in the center of the bill. On the left hand side of the note it has
the image of George Washington. In the center of the note it has
the image of the maiden by the bale of cotton with the ship in the background. Across the top of the note in small print it states
that the note is payable "Twelve months after a treaty of Peace between the
Confederate States and the United States". The note is nicely and correctly
hand signed and numbered. It is in lightly circulated condition. The overall size of
the note is 5-7/8ths inches by 2-3/4th inches. It comes in an acid free
holder for preservation and display.
