This is a very cool piece of Confederate currency! It is an original 1862
dated 25 cent note issued by the firm of Patterson Iron Works of New Orleans. Patterson
was one of the manufacturers of parts for the Confederate naval service. The
records show that they made some of the parts for the Confederate ironclad CSS
Mississippi. This was likely used to pay the workers because it states that it
was "Redeemable in Confederate Notes in sums of Ten Dollars." They were proud of their
service as you can tell because of the image of the tools in the center of the
note. This one has the nice green ink "25 CENTS" printed on sides of the note.
The note is correctly hand signed and numbered. It also has the written date of
issuance of February 16th 1862. The back of the note it has the cancellation hole in the center that is mentioned for exactness. This is a good
looking piece of currency from one of the iron works companies of New Orleans.
