$1.00 1862 Dated Atlanta, Georgia Railroad Note with "THE GENERAL" Image
Click on an image to enlarge
This is one of my favorite Civil War pieces of Money. It is the $1.00bank note issued by the Western & Atlantic Railroad in Atlanta, Georgia and is dated July 1st 1862. What is special about this note design is that at the center of the top it has the likeness of the most famous of all Civil War trains "THE GENERAL". That's right it's the famous train from the chase. It is hand signed and numbers as is correct for this style of note. It measures 6 inches by 2-3/4ths inches in overall size. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
