Here is a note that you seldom get a chance to own. This is an original piece of currency from the early days of Texas. This is an original $50 note issued by the "GOVERNMENT OF TEXAS" and is so marked along the top center of the note. This note was authorized by an Act of June 9, 1837, this note was part of an emission printed by Draper, Toppan, Longacre & Co. of Philadelphia and New York. It is beautifully designed with attractive vignettes of a sailor holding the Stars and Stripes and Justice seated on a wharf. It has the correct ink signatures along the bottom as well as the November 15th 1839 date of issuance. It has the serial number that is hand written of "2798" at the top. This one has the cut cancellation marks to the note as they usually do. It is in an acid-free holder for display and preservation. This is a cool early Texas piece of currency!
